The most extraordinary women-only tour ideas for 2026 and 2027

Travel tours designed just for women offer comfortable and supportive environments for trying new things.

As women-only travel tour companies continue to grow in popularity, it’s clear to see that women enjoy the experience of exploring the world in all-female groups. There’s a feeling of comfort and safety that comes with these trips, and that often makes women feel supported and free to try new things, especially if they’re traveling solo. In a recent survey, EF Go Ahead Tours found that close to 60% of the women surveyed prefer traveling with women over traveling with men, and that traveling in all-female groups allows them to “be their authentic selves.”

New friendships often develop from these trips, while bonds are also strengthened between mothers and daughters or longtime besties. And these tours go far beyond the standard explorations of European cities (although you can do that too in a women-only group). We’re talking women-centric cultural explorations in Asia, memorable nature-focused experiences, and some truly transformative trips. So if you’re looking to see the world and try something new in the company of other female travelers, these are some of my favorite options for unique women-only tours in 2026 and 2027.

Prepared to be awed by stunning scenery at every turn on the Austrian Alps Women’s Lodge-to-Lodge Hiking Tour, a new women-only adventure debuting in 2027 from longtime active tour company Backroads. The challenging six-day experience includes hikes on mountain paths and trails through wildflower-filled meadows and across dramatic mountain passes, with time to rest in between at mountain huts and family-run lodges in villages that look straight out of a fairy tale.

The tour starts in Innsbruck and then heads to Stuben to begin the hike. Cable car rides, riverside strolls, and wildlife sightings add to the experience, while hearty Alpine meals and spa treatments ensure you’re rested, relaxed, and refueled for the next adventure.

There are some options for different activity levels on each day of the itinerary, but expect to be logging several miles a day at an elevation between 4,300 and 9,700 feet. While you’ll be hiking well-maintained Alpine paths, most route options include steep sections that involve climbing or descending through mixed terrain. Backroads also offers a similar women’s hiking tour in Switzerland.

  • Length: Six days, five nights

EF Go Ahead Tours launched its first collection of women-only tours in 2025, featuring trips that celebrate women’s history and their impact around the world. The Japan for Women: Tokyo, Ise-Shima Peninsula & Kyoto tour is a great example of that, with experiences that include an exploration of Tokyo through the lens of fashion, art, and female empowerment and a visit with female pearl divers in Ise Shima.

You’ll take part in a tea ceremony, learn about indigo dyeing, and experience a guided Zen meditation at a local Buddhist temple. And along the way the female tour director and local guides will share stories about the women of Japan’s Imperial family, the women who traveled the historic Nakasendo route between Edo and Kyoto during the Edo Period, and geisha culture in the famous Gion district of Kyoto.

The tour includes nine nights in handpicked hotels along the way and breakfast each day. Along with all the organized tours, tastings, and experiences, there’s also plenty of free time for exploring on your own. Expect to walk about two to three miles a day on varying terrain and to manage your own luggage.

Travel to a remote mountaintop forest in Mexico’s Central Highlands to witness something truly magical on Natural Habitat Adventures’ Kingdom of the Monarchs Women’s Journey: the annual monarch butterfly migration. Each year the female monarch butterfly lays 300 to 500 eggs and migrates 3,000 miles from the U.S. and Canada to Mexico. This tour walks the trail blazed by Cathy Aguado, who discovered the monarchs’ overwintering site in 1975.

You’ll also ride horseback through the oyamel fir forest while female Expedition Leaders share about the region’s natural and cultural heritage. Beyond the awe-inspiring natural spectacle, the itinerary includes time in mountain villages and local markets, where you’ll learn about the impact of ecotourism on the area.

Some days will include hikes ranging from three to five miles on rocky, uneven terrain with some steep inclines. Altitudes could reach up to 11,500 feet.

Inspired by AdventureWomen’s popular horseback riding trips in Iceland, this new tour takes female travelers to Patagonia’s legendary Torres del Paine. Participants travel by horseback to South American landscapes few people ever reach, from vast valleys and sweeping pampas to ancient lenga forests and high plateaus populated with condors.

Expect to ride around 90 miles and several hours a day during this adventure, where picnic lunches are enjoyed trailside amid the stunning scenery. Accommodations along the way include geodesic domes, and evenings offer plenty of stargazing opportunities.

The excursion ends with a memorable boat trip to Grey Glacier to marvel at the ice formations in the Southern Patagonia Ice Field. Like the company’s all-female horseback riding adventure in Iceland, the new Patagonia trip helps women forge connections with both the land and their fellow riders.

Minnesota Explorer: Fall Foliage

Canyon Calling Adventures for Women

Think “fall foliage” and New England might immediately come to mind. But Minnesota’s also a pretty dreamy place to visit in the fall, and you can take in the region’s autumnal splendor on the Minnesota Explorer: Fall Foliage tour from Canyon Calling Adventures for Women. Hikes in state parks lead to photo-worthy waterfalls and fabulous foliage, while a paddle in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness lets you admire it all in from the water.

The trip also includes time in the picturesque village of Grand Marais on the north shore of Lake Superior and a visit to Split Rock Lighthouse, one of the most photographed spots in the state. Loon calls contribute to the trip’s soundtrack, and moose and black bear sightings are a possibility. And because the tour is just four days, it’s a quick getaway that doesn’t require a lot of time off from work or away from your family (or a passport either).
