For nearly 20 years, Adventures by Disney has been leading guided group tours to incredible destinations around the world. In 2026, guests will have an all-new river cruise to experience when the brand launches its Rhône River Cruise: Lyon and Provence. The itinerary takes guests along the iconic river through Lyon and Provence to see the beauty and experience the culture of southern France.

The seven-night itinerary will take place aboard the AmaKristina, operated by AmaWaterways. One of the biggest perks of river cruising is that you unpack once and explore multiple destinations throughout the week. Then add a sprinkle of Disney magic and you’ve got an Adventures by Disney river cruise.

On the new Rhône River cruise, guests will experience five incredible ports of call including Lyon, Tournon, Viviers, Avignon, and Arles. Throughout the journey, you’ll see the beauty of the mountains, wildflower fields, rolling vineyards, and canyons that showcase the region’s diversity.

Highlights of the cruise include sightseeing adventures where you can explore towns and villages by bike or kayak. Additionally, guests with Adventures by Disney will have the exclusive opportunity to take in the scenery of Doux Gorges aboard a steam-powered train. Foodies will love the culinary experiences too. Tasting local specialties, wine tastings at Rhône River Valley vineyards, and a food tour in Lyon are all included.

Those interested in art can enjoy a hands-on painting class; learn about silk weaving during a private demonstration; and visit St. Paul de Mausole, where Vincent Van Gogh created more than 250 pieces of art, including “The Starry Night.” History buffs aren’t left out of the fun. Guests can experience educational visits to ancient Roman ruins in Lyon and Nîmes.

FAMILIES WITH TEENS: Best tours for teens and their parents

One of the biggest perks of traveling with Adventures by Disney is the Disney-trained Adventure Guides. These dedicated guides help to ensure that every detail is seamless. On the Rhône River cruise, up to five Adventure Guides take care of the wants and needs of guests. Then all that guests have to do is show up on time and have fun. And if you’re bringing kids along, that’s no problem. The Adventure Guides often lead activities for young travelers, which Adventures by Disney calls “Junior Adventurers.”

If you’ve ever wanted to try river cruising, Adventures by Disney may be a great fit for you and your family. The level of service and exclusive opportunities afforded to guests is unmatched. I also love that the Adventure Guides get to know you and your family throughout the week. They really are the “secret sauce” of the trip, and can do just about anything with one phone call.

RIVER CRUISING: Hot trends for family river cruises in Europe

I’ve been lucky to take a river cruise with Adventures by Disney from Paris to Normandy. On my river cruise, an Adventure Guide and I talked about how much I love culinary experiences and offered to make my traveling party reservations at one of the hottest cafes in Paris. Besides the unparalleled access to sites, this is the type of service guests can expect on the new Rhône River cruise with Adventures by Disney, too.
