G Adventures, a tour company that focuses on adventure-driven small-group trips in destinations around the world, just debuted its 2023 destination recommendations. To create the list, the tour company looked to destinations that are strong on value and affordability but that also have exceptional experiences and a strong social impact for local communities.

A number of these destinations are home to G for Good projects, programs that allow guests to participate in what G Adventures calls “local entrepreneurial businesses that directly benefit the local communities.”

Here’s the scoop on the top three destinations G Adventures is highlighting come 2023:

  • Sri Lanka: It’s been a rough couple of years for Sri Lanka, but the country is once again welcoming back travelers, and with its currently devalued currency, on-the-ground costs are extra affordable for foreigners. (G Adventures’ Sri Lanka Express is an eight-day tour that supports two G for Good projects. Prices start at $1,329.)
  • Turkey: G Adventures has seen a 139 percent increase in Turkey bookings for 2023 travel, and with its affordability and wealth of flights from departure cities around the world, it’s a great candidate for travel in the new year. (The eight-day Best of Turkey trip begins and ends in Istabul and is priced from $1,049.)
  • Japan: Japan’s currency has dropped by 25 percent, making this an unusually good time to visit the usually pricey country. G Adventures reports a 65 percent increase in bookings for trips next year. (G Adventures’ Backroads of Japan trip is an 11-day trip from Tokyo to Kyoto that includes a homestay. The trip is priced from $3,899.)

Rounding out the top 10 are:

  • Peru
  • Thailand
  • Morocco
  • Mexico
  • Egypt
  • South Africa
  • The Balkans
